A preliminary injunction has been granted in a lawsuit that West Virginia is a part of against the Biden Administration's recent Title IX rewrite which expanded the definitions of sex-based discrimination to include gender identity. 

A handful of Virginia school boards are exiting the Virginia School Board Association, the longest-running organization dedicated to supporting school boards in the commonwealth, over claims that it has failed to meet their needs and doesn't align with their conservative values.

The process to recall five East Baton Rouge School Board members is underway. A group calling themselves a community coalition made up of district employees, teachers, and residents is spearheading that effort. The group is calling for Mark Bellue, District 1, Nathan Rust, District 6, Michael Gaudet, District 7, Emily Soul, District 8 and Patrick Martin, District 9 to be recalled.

A southern Indiana school district is slashing its budget to make up for some bad accounting. Scott County School District 2 overspent millions of dollars. While the board fired the person they said is responsible, they're now faced with some tough decisions and lots of cuts.

The St. Joseph School District is actively being investigated by the Missouri attorney general over allegations first reported by The Lion. Those allegations include violations of Missouri Sunshine Law related to closed meetings, illegal electioneering for a school bond campaign, and conflicts of interest between the district and Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph (CAPSTJOE), where one board member served as executive director and another as board treasurer.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty has announced it is challenging a scholarship program in the Beloit, Wisconsin, school district for being racist and discriminatory.

A Pennsylvania state Senator told a radio host that approval of a measure to notify parents when weapons are illicitly brought to school was opposed by some school districts as cumbersome. The state Senate recently passed Senate Bill 971, a bipartisan measure that would notify parents if a weapon, such as a gun or knife, was found at a school or a school-related event.

School districts have the power to decide which books shall be placed in school libraries, and state officials cannot order any of the books removed, according to a June 11 ruling from the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

The Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Trenton, N.J. sponsored a book reading for children that discusses "moving beyond the gender binary." The book, My Shadow is Purple portrays a child who doesn't identify as male nor female.

A healthcare organization operating within Seattle Public Schools is providing “gender-affirming” hormones to children. Emails obtained by The Daily Wire revealed Neighborcare Health, which runs clinics in SPS middle and elementary schools, has been offering hormone treatments since January 2023.

The battle between rival teachers’ unions is heating up in Florida, where local educators will have the final say. Florida’s Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) announced on May 14 that the Miami-Dade Education Coalition (MDEC) would officially be challenging United Teachers of Dade (UTD) in an upcoming election.
