Rahm Emanuel, a White House official under two presidents and former mayor of Chicago, says Democrats have “lost the plot” by going woke.
Emanuel, who served as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff and President Bill Clinton’s political director, said March 27 that defunding the police, emphasizing racial differences and implementing woke policies in schools “are on the losing side” of those issues.
“You are worried about bathroom access and locker room access,” he told Pod Save America’s Tommy Vietor. “Why don’t you focus on classroom excellence? You have 50% of our kids not reading at grade level.”
Vietor asked whether schools can emphasize both cultural issues and education.
“You’ve proven you can’t because you’ve permitted a 30-year low in reading and math scores, and nobody seems to be calling the whistle on this,” retorted Emanuel, who said he is “having conversations” about a possible 2028 presidential run.
