Illinois Superintendent Tony Sanders sent a message to public school leaders a week ago saying schools should continue teaching LGBTQ, Black and Asian history.
Sanders informed Illinoisans about how he plans to keep abiding by the state’s Inclusive Curriculum Law on February 19th. He also addressed a letter he received from the U.S. Department of Education earlier in the month.
“I must emphasize, the “Dear Colleague” letter states it does not have the force and effect of law and does not bind the public or create new legal standards,” Sanders said in a weekly message.
