As public school students, staff, and faculty seek to express their diverse religious holidays this season, several experts offer recommendations to avoid repercussions.
Tyson Langhofer, senior counsel and director of the Center for Academic Freedom for Alliance Defending Freedom, one of the leading conservative Christian legal firms, weighed in on what the school community can do during the holidays.
“The idea that religious students and staff should be worried about expressing their religion at public schools shows just how far freedom of religion has fallen in our nation,” Langhofer said in an email to Chalkboard. “The reality is that all religious students and teachers retain their right to freedom of religion in school to the same extent as other free speech rights.”
